About ToolBenchmarks

Most software reviews are rewritten feature lists. We started ToolBenchmarks because choosing marketing and SEO software is expensive to get wrong — subscriptions run into thousands of dollars a year — and the only reviews worth reading are ones based on actual use.

So that's the rule here: we don't review tools we haven't used on real projects. Every score on this site comes from putting the software to work on live websites and judging what it changed.

How we test

01Run the tool on real websites for an extended period — not a demo account for an afternoon.

02Score against fixed categories: core capability, data quality, usability, and value for money.

03Record what frustrated us alongside what impressed us. Every review includes reasons not to buy.

04Re-check pricing and features before publishing, and date every review.

How this site makes money

Through affiliate commissions. When you buy a product through a link on this site, we may earn a commission from the vendor at no extra cost to you. Two things keep this honest: commissions never change a score, and we publish the downsides of products we recommend in the same breath as the upsides. If a tool isn't right for a certain kind of buyer, we say so — even though telling you not to buy costs us money.
